This article explores the concept of agonistic pluralism through the lens of the Gezi/June Uprising in Turkey and the popular assemblies that emerged afterward. By applying theories from William E. Connolly and Chantal Mouffe, the study examines how these assemblies challenge the existing political order and foster new forms of direct democracy. Utilizing participant observation, in-depth interviews, and virtual ethnography on Facebook, the research assesses the assemblies' effectiveness in resisting and subverting established political structures and their potential for radical political transformation.
