This study explores why individuals discuss their illicit drug use in online forums, focusing on factors like anonymity, legal risks, and social stigma. Through interviews with 26 party drug users, it was found that discussions in such forums are influenced by users' perceptions of visibility, legal risk, social stigma, and the effectiveness of pseudonymity. The study highlights important considerations for conducting internet research on drug use.
