This work explores the design of cooperative learning activities on the Internet, aligning with the student-centered teaching paradigm that emphasizes active learning in a cooperative environment. Pedagogical research suggests that this approach is most effective for developing high-order skills. Despite its potential, the implementation of electronic learning often relies on ad-hoc strategies, limiting its impact. The study demonstrates how to design online cooperative learning activities based on principles from contemporary pedagogical research. These activities were successfully applied in forums over two years within an artificial neural networks laboratory in an engineering program.
