This study explores how student engagement with videos and discussion forums influences achievement in Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). Using binomial logistic regression models and qualitative content analysis, the research examines the predictive power of engagement behaviors and intentions to receive certification on course completion. Findings indicate that engagement with videos and forums significantly increases the likelihood of course achievement, with intentions to certify enhancing this effect. Forum posts primarily show information acquisition rather than critical thinking. Implications suggest MOOC designers foster deeper engagement through interactive videos and discussion prompts that encourage critical discussions.
