This study examines the impact of asynchronous online discussion forums on student learning outcomes in anatomy courses. Two multicampus courses were analyzed: an introductory first-year course and a second-year physiotherapy-specific course. The forums, structured by course modules and moderated weekly, were evaluated for overall activity and detailed analysis in one mid-semester week. Students were categorized based on their level of forum contribution—zero, moderate, or high. The study found that second-year students engaged more in task-focused discussions and showed a significant positive correlation between high forum participation and final course marks. In contrast, first-year students posted more in administrative threads, and no significant relationship between forum participation and final marks was observed. The findings suggest that well-structured online forums can enhance learning outcomes, particularly for more advanced students.
