This paper, supported by Cisco Systems and the Digital Media and Learning Hub at UC Irvine, examines how the rising trend of young children engaging in online social networking affects their social interactions. Scholars Sara Grimes and Deborah Fields argue for a deeper understanding of how social networking sites influence children's socialization and highlight both the opportunities and limitations these platforms impose on young users.
