This study examines whether consumers consider production aspects of pig farming in their purchasing decisions when such information is available. It focuses on samples from Germany and Poland, who selected their top two most important production characteristics from ten options, including animal welfare, health and safety, and environmental issues. A choice experiment was used to estimate the relative weight of these characteristics in consumer decisions. The results show that the importance of production characteristics varies by consumer segment, with a larger production-interested segment in Germany compared to Poland. Generally, consumers prioritize health and safety over animal welfare and environmental impact, except for one animal welfare criterion in Germany.
