This qualitative study examines online health forums from two UK charities—Breast Cancer Care and the Motor Neurone Disease Association—by analyzing 84 threads from the breast cancer forum and 52 from the MND forum. Data were gathered through thematic analysis of forum posts and semi-structured interviews with 19 users (14 from Breast Cancer Care and 5 from MND). The study uses Braun and Clarke’s six-phase approach to thematic analysis and combines these data sources to provide a comprehensive understanding of user experiences and discussions within these forums.
