This study explores the use of metrics to manage and analyze self-harm discussion forums, aiming to enhance forum safety and data utilization. Metrics such as participants' time logged, episodes, and postings were used to compare forums and identify participative stances like "caretaker" and "butterfly." The results suggest that real-time metrics can improve forum management, moderation, and data analysis, advocating for the publication of forum metrics and the development of real-time metrics facilities by software developers.
