This article analyzes how factors such as trust, logistics, and conflict operate in darknet markets (DNMs) and forums for illicit drug sales. Using Elias's concept of ‘figuration,’ the study examines how communication patterns among actors influence these factors. Through qualitative content analysis of darknet forums and vendor shops, it finds that trust is built through vouching and countered by shilling, logistics are essential for secure transactions but often fail, and conflicts frequently arise from logistic failures. The presence of disguised actors plays a crucial role in these dynamics.
