Discussion forums are a widely preferred tool in online learning environments due to their ability to facilitate interaction and complex thinking, which may not always be effectively achieved in traditional face-to-face learning settings. They enable learners to create information, collaborate, and interact either synchronously or asynchronously, allowing for reflective thinking and responses. Despite their effectiveness, there is a lack of sufficient studies on the usability of discussion forums as learning materials in online education. This study aims to fill that gap by investigating the usability of discussion forums in online learning environments using a qualitative research method. The opinions of eight field experts, selected through purposeful sampling, were sought to understand the usability of discussion forums in online learning. The study predicts that investigating the usability of discussion forums will enhance the efficiency of online learning environments.
