This case study examines address forms used in computer-mediated communication (CMC) within readers' forums on online editions of German, Austrian, and Swiss-German newspapers. The analysis reveals that formal pronominal and nominal address forms are predominantly used, contrary to common assumptions. It also identifies significant variations in addressing behavior across the three countries and highlights that each forum develops unique addressing patterns, suggesting the formation of distinct communities of linguistic practice among participants.
