This paper explores e-religious discourse among Australian Muslims on the MuslimVillage forums, focusing on discussions about polygamy and homosexuality. It illustrates how online interactions in virtual Islamic environments can both challenge and reinforce traditional Islamic norms related to gender and sexuality. The study highlights the dual role of these forums: they enable Muslims to express diverse viewpoints, including those that challenge established norms, while also providing a platform for reaffirming authoritative Islamic perspectives. This negotiation of normative representations reflects the complex dynamics within Australia’s digital Islamic community.
