This autoethnographic study of the online gossip forum Lipstick Alley employs Communication Privacy Management (CPM) theory to explore how gender and culture influence boundaries and information sharing. The study identifies CPM boundary coordination rules—linkage, ownership, and permeability—and examines their impact on how users manage and discuss information. Findings indicate that gender and culture significantly affect information sharing practices, with ownership concepts shaping management rules and consequences for mismanagement.
