This study explores the role of online forums in providing social support for women with postnatal mental illness, focusing on experiences of stigma and potential disadvantages. Interviews with fifteen women who had used forums revealed several key themes through systematic thematic analysis. Participants generally found forums beneficial for developing a shared understanding and discourse about their illness. The study suggests that future research should investigate the impact of online social support on women’s well-being, the extent to which forums challenge stigma, and the potential concerns associated with using these platforms.
