This article examines the use of self-praise within an online community of pick-up artists (PUAs) who share techniques and scripts for seduction. The study analyzes field reports posted online for peer evaluation and identifies three types of self-praise used by PUAs: brag statements, proxy brags, and evidential brags. The findings reveal that self-praise is common and accepted within this community, with reactions to such self-praise showing that it aligns with PUA interactional norms rather than being censored. The study suggests that self-praising behavior is more prevalent and less restricted than previously thought.
