This paper explores how user engagement impacts the effectiveness of online pro-health social networks aimed at smoking cessation, specifically using the Alt.Support.Stop-Smoking forum. By applying the RE-AIM framework, the study quantitatively assesses user engagement and its influence on the forum's reach. It demonstrates how social network analysis can aid in evaluating and improving online health interventions. The paper also identifies challenges and opportunities in developing thread recommendation systems to enhance the dissemination of healthy behaviors, particularly smoking cessation.
