This study analyzes Internet forum posts from 2016 where young people discuss trauma, with the goal of identifying barriers to offline help-seeking for trauma-related distress. Thematic analysis revealed five key barriers: questioning the validity of their trauma response, negative self-beliefs, fear of negative reactions, difficulties in trusting others, and avoidance of discussing the trauma. These barriers are often seen as consequences of the trauma itself, highlighting the need for trauma-specific approaches to support and service provision.
