JoelR Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 You're a member of a community. Would you rather ... Receive a public shoutout or a private word of thanks from your community admin? Inspired by Rosie Sherry Quote
JoeyM Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Neither, I don't think any is required. However, I would say I prefer it privately. Would you rather - is a fun forum game to play. 👍 Quote

dismalbliss Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Depends. If they impressed within a topic, I will praise them in that topic. If they Reported something, I will thank them via PM. Quote
Shortie Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 I have never been one for being in the spotlight, it's just not the kind of person I am. Due to this, I would much rather receive a private word of thanks from the community admin so that it was more personal and did not throw me into the spotlight. I do know of some community owners who tend to do it in the open and as much as many do not see an issue with that, some probably would have preferred to receive it privately and I feel that needs to be taken into account. Maria Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 I do not mind being thanked in a public forum. If it involves something private things, I wouldn't want the admin to disclose it publicly, though. I also do not mind a thank you note tor through a PM. This does not bother me at all. Quote
Clover13 Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 This is very individual. Some people are very private and/or don't want a spotlight on them, while others bask in and welcome it. For a business (who is a member of a community), I'd imagine as public as possible is the desired approach. Quote
