"We have come to the decision to sunset vBulletin.org and allow people to post their addons within the Social Groups of vBulletin.com. Anyone that wishes to move their addons there can contact me directly on vBulletin.com via Private Message and I can get you set up."

Are there any Vbulletin third party developers impacted by this?

If youre an IPS third party developer, would you have preferred using Clubs to list your files?

That's sad to hear, in the old days I was really active on .org and had some small mods for vB3/4 out there too. But that's ages ago.

Also I never was on .com because they had an official german support site too.

As for the clubs, I don't think that's a good idea, it would just make everything even more confusing.

I liked the idea of vBulletin to have an extra site for the extensions and here it is even better because this one is independent from the official company.

Btw in their glory days they had a cool contest called "Mod of the Month" ...

No. It would be confusing and unnecessary. The idea of this site is to have a central place to display the files. What sense would it make to have to go to several clubs to discover files?

It was about time that they closed vb.org. It had 0 activity since the release of vb 5. Not to mention that it never got updated.

When I went to go look at the site myself, it had only one or two online users and it looks like most of the mods were for v3 and v4. I also think it had a lot of custom modifications which made it a hassle to upgrade (Joel hides all of the plans he has to customize Invisioneer ... LOL).

The activity has been almost zero since vb released version 5. And yes, from what I was told, it has a ton of custom modifications, hence why it was never upgraded.

Back in the day, during the vB2 era in the early 2000's, it was not uncommon for vbulletin.org to have twice the traffic as vbulletin.com.

Were you ever active in the VB scene?

How long have you been with IPS? I feel like it's been ... forever.

Yes, I was active in 2003 through 2006.

I've been with IPS since January 2011.
