One of the things that I'm looking at is IPBoard (I guess they're called Invision community now?) is their feature of non-forum pages. I am familiar with CMS builders from vBulletin It looks like you can write Articles, FAQ, and Reviews. How many of you have non-forum pages, in addition to the forum?

Do any of you kick off your forums with a contest? If so, what's it all about and what kind of prizes do you give out? Is it just a straightforward referral contest, or does it tie into the specific topic of your forum?

When I ran forum for several years (and it was very popular over 600,000 posts), no special mission statement. Be friendly, welcome all, discuss motor. Simple rules. BUT reading more information, I maybe write better communication on why forum is different and special.

I only see traditional view of forums, I hate new style and modern style. BUT new kids see social media and different view and different generation, we must change with the times, I look at IPBoard because they evolve and modern. But I still hate new views, only like traditional view for me.

This is something I must get better and improve. In the past when I ran my motor forum, I didn't do anything special, the members referred other members and we became popular, but I wish I discipline myself and continue to push. So many fantastic ideas that pop into my head every minute but not discipline myself to write them down and to action them. Very busy with personal life, but forum and members are my heart.

Hi, I administer a forum for over 15 years on vBulletin and loved my members and building my motor forum, but sadly the forum stopped with less and less members, so I eventually archived the forum. I want to get back into the forum again and maybe restart my database. I referred to this website and fall in love with the incredible resources and information, thank you so much for sharing the information and helping us give hope to do better.
