This paper synthesizes research on online adult learning within Online Communities of Practice (OCOPs), aiming to understand its characteristics and the factors that facilitate or hinder adult engagement. Through a systematic review of thirty-seven studies, it identifies that OCOP members are independent, motivated, and lifelong learners focused on professional outcomes. The study highlights both the positive impacts of OCOP engagement on learning processes and the challenges faced by adults due to factors like aging, technological resistance, and lack of motivation. It extends the theory of andragogy into digital environments, offering insights into the dynamics of adult learning in OCOPs.
