This policy brief addresses the growing public concern over the role of online extreme-right communities in radicalizing individuals towards political violence. It systematically examines the psychological processes underlying the formation and transformation of these communities, emphasizing their collective beliefs, values, and norms as crucial factors shaping their actions. Drawing on research findings from an Australian extreme-right online community, the brief illustrates how these collective elements can evolve following socio-political events offline. The brief concludes by offering strategies for policy intervention and recommendations for further research in this area.
