This study explores the effectiveness of online communities in supporting and enhancing professional learning, especially for educators facing economic constraints on professional development resources. Utilizing Wenger, Trayner, and de Laat's value creation framework, the research investigates how members from diverse backgrounds and expertise levels contribute to the creation of meaningful knowledge within these communities. The findings reveal that these contributions are both individually and collectively beneficial, with knowledge being applied in professional settings. Additionally, the study highlights the role of community leaders and sponsoring organizations in facilitating value creation through various activities, tools, and interactions.
