This study examines an online community of practice (OCoP), specifically Webheads in Action (WiA), as a potential alternative for teacher professional development (PD). Through collated interactions and interviews with 24 members, the study identifies factors contributing to successful OCoPs. Two major themes emerge: the creation of a sense of belonging through initiation processes and community norms, and the dynamism inherent in the community, including new topics and continuous member recruitment. The study underscores the importance of socio-affective dimensions in designing and sustaining OCoPs for teacher PD.
