This study examines the effectiveness of an online community of practice (OCoP), specifically the Webheads in Action (WiA) community of English as a foreign language (EFL) teachers, as a form of technology professional development (TPD). Utilizing a mixed method research approach that included questionnaires (n=44) and interviews (n=24), along with analysis of community interactions over nine months, the study found that participation in WiA significantly contributed to members' perceived TPD. Results also showed differences in outcomes based on levels of participation (peripheral, active, core), underscoring the value of engagement in these communities. The study concludes with a recommendation for teachers to engage in OCoPs for professional development and for the establishment of more OCoPs targeting various professional development needs.
