In “Language and symbolic power,” Bourdieu discusses the relationship between language and power. He argues that language plays a key role in the production, reproduction, and legitimation of power relations. Through the analysis of linguistic exchanges, Bourdieu shows how language is used to reproduce power relationships in everyday interactions. He also examines how symbolic power is generated through the use of language, such as the imposition of a dominant language on a minority group. Bourdieu’s work provides a framework for understanding the role of language in social inequality.
