Friess and Eilders (2015) conducted a systematic review of online deliberation research to identify the main findings, theoretical approaches, and research gaps. The review concluded that there are several challenges related to the design of online deliberation processes, including the identification of appropriate participation mechanisms, the management of group dynamics, and the need for transparency and accountability.
