This paper introduces a theoretical framework aimed at guiding the development of online communities of practice using collective intelligence tools, particularly within the context of Web 2.0. It integrates insights from research on communities of practice, theories of learning, and the authors' experiences with collaborative knowledge creation through Web 2.0 tools. The framework highlights a spiraling process of learning within these communities, which evolves through stages of discourse, action, reflection, and reorganization, ultimately leading to socially mediated metacognition. This approach underscores the dynamic and interactive nature of learning and knowledge creation in online communities of practice.
