This study investigates the potential of online communities and e-mentoring to address challenges in retaining and developing beginning teachers. Through interviews with beginning teachers, mentors, and relevant staff, the study supports the hypothesis that online mentoring could effectively supplement existing induction procedures. It suggests that initial topics or discussions within the learning community should focus on key issues identified in the study, including behavior management, parent interactions, and assessment and reporting, to address concerns deemed most relevant by beginning teachers.
