This study investigates the effectiveness of a peer-matching system designed to connect mentees with suitable peer mentors in online health communities. Through a mixed-methods user study involving cancer patients and caregivers, the study evaluates the importance of various profile elements in mentor selection. Results indicate that sample posts significantly influence mentees' likelihood of contacting a mentor, emphasizing the importance of communication cues embedded in peer-generated health data (PGHD) for building mentoring relationships.
