This study investigates the influence of group size, network density, participation equality, and member turnover on communication activity and the development of a shared language within online communities. Analyzing social interactions across 16 discussion groups with 33,450 participants and 632,622 messages covering diverse topics, the research utilizes social network analysis, computational linguistics, and hierarchical linear modeling. Findings indicate that larger group sizes and higher network density positively affect both communication activity and the use of shared language among members. In contrast, participation equality and member turnover did not significantly predict these outcomes.
