This article explores how memories are negotiated within hyperconnected memory cultures, particularly focusing on the Soviet past in contemporary Russia. Through critical discourse analysis (CDA), the study examines the interplay between official narratives, individual memories, and the construction of national identity. It introduces the concept of 'hyperconnected memories' to describe the mediatization of memory across various forms of communication. The research highlights the role of nostalgia in drawing people to mnemonic online communities and acting as a bridge between cultural memory and national identity. Nonetheless, it concludes that participation in these communities does not necessarily lead to emancipation from state-driven narratives.
