This research explores the potential of Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPGs) in supporting second language teaching by providing virtual safe spaces for students to communicate in their target language with global players. Combining ethnography and action research, the study investigates students' experiences of language learning and performance while playing MMORPGs, revealing that MMORPGs can facilitate language development through fun, informal, individualized, and secure virtual environments for language practice.
