This study explores the motivations and practices behind capturing and sharing live music event videos on YouTube, revealing the dynamics of online content production and social media interactions. Interviews with YouTube users highlight the reasons for recording live music, the sharing protocols, and the significance of these videos in fan communities. The analysis uncovers motivations, tensions between immediate and long-term goals, and differences between mainstream and indie music fans. These insights contribute to a deeper understanding of social media participation, online communities, fan culture, and media production.
