This study explores the needs and motivations of individuals who sustain work-related injuries and seek support from online communities. Using observational netnography, data were collected from Australian message boards, revealing themes related to decision-making, support-seeking, and problem-solving among injured workers. Key motivators included seeking information, connection, and justice, with relationship-building playing a crucial role. The findings suggest that injured workers use online communities to navigate medical and medicolegal complexities, as well as lifestyle changes during recovery, highlighting opportunities for improved engagement with insurance case management practice.
