This paper addresses the significant challenge of schema matching in the integration of data from multiple sources within online communities, a task that traditionally places a heavy burden on a limited number of volunteer integrators, often hindering the development of integration systems. To overcome this obstacle, the authors propose leveraging the broader community in a Web 2.0 fashion to assist in matching schemas. The paper outlines the challenges associated with this collaborative approach and presents initial solutions, supported by a comprehensive set of experiments on both real-world and synthetic data, demonstrating the effectiveness of engaging the community in the schema matching process.
