This article, based on ethnographic research in Helsinki, explores how digital technologies, particularly techno-toys and online networking communities, impact children's sociality and their manipulation of spatial surroundings. It highlights the intricate relationships between children's everyday spaces and companies developing these technologies, noting how adult-designed technologies foster and capitalize on children's relationships, thereby shaping and directing their interactions. The study points out the appeal of commercial spaces to children and emphasizes the need for childhood scholars to adopt a nuanced approach to understanding the complex ways corporate offerings shape children's everyday experiences. The article calls for a deeper exploration into how these digital and commercial spaces influence and transform children's activities and interactions.
