This paper discusses the potential of online communities to enhance learning experiences for Primary School children, moving beyond the unidirectional relationship with the Internet fostered by multimedia educational tools. A comparative case study in two schools explored the impact of allowing children to participate in online communities, highlighting the importance of reciprocal learning relationships and the critical role of teacher involvement for quality learning outcomes.
