Wandersman and Florin's (1999) chapter titled "Citizen participation and community organizations" explores the concepts of citizen participation and community organizations in community psychology. The chapter discusses how citizen participation has been used to promote social change, and how community organizations can promote citizen participation by serving as a conduit for people to get involved in their community. The authors also discuss different levels of citizen participation and strategies for increasing it, as well as the importance of building trust and positive relationships among community members.
