The paper advocates for cyber-ethnography as the optimal method for understanding online communities, highlighting its ability to capture the nuanced characteristics of these communities. Through the study of two feminist online communities, it is shown that members define their own community boundaries, leading to the emergence of a hybrid space that intersects with the physical realm without being entirely virtual. Additionally, participation in these communities is characterized as transitory, with members engaging primarily when in need of specific resources.
