This study examines the prevalence and spread of misinformation and polarization in online communities, particularly on Reddit, analyzing over 550 million links spanning 4 years. Using non-partisan news source ratings, it finds that right-leaning communities exhibit higher variance in political bias and more links to biased sources compared to left-leaning ones. Despite this, Reddit's user behaviors tend to decrease the visibility of extremely biased and low factual content, suggesting resilience compared to platforms like Twitter. The study underscores the effectiveness of community-wide bans and quarantines in addressing the concentration of such content.
