This study focuses on the development and analysis of two complementary reputation mechanisms designed for electronic communities, where members often lack personal connections and knowledge about each other's reputations. These mechanisms, which include collaborative rating and personalized evaluation of ratings, aim to provide valuable reputation information to facilitate interactions, particularly in Electronic Commerce. The research suggests that while these mechanisms are specifically developed for e-commerce contexts, their utility may extend to various types of electronic communities, such as chatrooms, newsgroups, and mailing lists.
