This study investigates how members of text-based, asynchronous online Communities of Practice (COPs) adopt knowledge contributed by other members, extending previous research on knowledge adoption in computer-mediated settings. It explores new heuristic cues such as genre conformity and information consistency, along with factors like focused search and disconfirming information. Survey data collected from an online COP support the hypotheses, suggesting that the context of an online COP dynamically influences knowledge processing. This study enhances our understanding of knowledge sharing in online COPs and offers insights for improving organizational knowledge management through these communities.
