When you lock topics, what are your reasons?

Generally speaking, I lock topics when there are already too many discussions on the same subject matter. I also lock topics that are irrelevant to the community or are time sensitive and are no more relevant.  I also lock topics that are off topic discussion. What about you?

I think time sensitive topics need to be locked. If you have a topic that discuss 2020 US elections, what's the point in opening it? You can lock it and create similar topic 2024 US elections. If the discussion also diverse from the original topic, I think it is the best interest of the community to lock it out.
