  3. Ah ok. I asked because I have heard that term before as in to work for free developer.
  4. What do you mean by this as to me this sounds contradictory?
  5. I browsed through their official forum and it seemed pretty much dead to me. It's a shame imo as it is a decent script with a lot of potential.
  6. Is MyBB still being developed? Their official forum seemed dead to me with 0 activity.
  7. The best free forum imo is Smf. It has all the main features that most paid forums have and they do have a rich mods section too to suplement your forum with additional features.

What does it do? This app will give your staff members (with the appropriate permissions) to ban members from either viewing particular forums or from posting and starting new topics in them. To set the permissions for groups that will be allowed to ban members from forums, go to your Admin Panel->Members->Forum Ban. There you can select the protected groups as well. Banning is done in the front end. To ban a member from a forum, go to the forum in question and you will see a new drop down menu added, called: Ban From Forum. There you can also view and manage banned members for that forum. Members can be banned for a certain periof of time, or permanently. As a precaution, you can protect certain groups from getting banned from forums. When you ban a member from a certain forum, you can enter the reason as to why that member is banned from that forum. The reason will be sent to the banned member through a pm. You have the option to make the author of the ban pm to show as a guest, i.e. not recognisable. Members who have been banned from viewing a forum, will not be able to see the posts from that forum, at the Search or Activity pages.

Description: This app adds a new table to the database that will log all future log ins to your forum. Each time an user will log in to your forum, a unique cookie will be added to members devices and then it will be stored in the app 's table. The cookie exparation date is set to one year and its unique string is associated with the users device used to log in. Their ip address will be stored as well. The app will scan its database table and list all users who have logged in multiple times from the same device and ip. Like that you can see who has shared their login details with other users. The cookie detection method is the most accurate method. Both shared login detection methods have a quick search option where you can search the resuts based on members names. Important: The detection starts from the moment that the app is installed. Past detections are not logged due to the fact that the app uses its own database table to store shared logins.

  17. Same thing here. And I am very glad that I left xf as it is as good as finished imo. Anyways, after I left xf I started a community and coded for Woltlab for a while and at the start of the coronavirus pandemic I started to use Ipb and I never looked back. It's the best forum software imo. It has a great staff and community as well. What I love about the Ips staff is the way that they interact with the community and how they keep us in the loop with the developement. You don't see this at other forums. And regarding the community, what I llike the most is how helpful it is.
  18. I don't use a Marketplace as well at my forum. I sell my apps manually. And so far it is going well.
  19. The activity has been almost zero since vb released version 5. And yes, from what I was told, it has a ton of custom modifications, hence why it was never upgraded.
  20. It was about time that they closed vb.org. It had 0 activity since the release of vb 5. Not to mention that it never got updated.
